To enter the National Science + Engineering Competition, you’re going to need a science, technology, engineering or maths project.

First, let’s check a few things:

  • Are all your team members are between 11-18 years old?
  • Are you a resident of the UK and in full-time education?

So, how do you get started?

Starting a project can be difficult. What topic do I choose? What do I want to find out? How do I structure my work? Who can support me? Do I work individually or in a team?

To help you get started, we have created a Challenge Pack to help young people, teachers and parents get started. The Pack helps you with getting an idea and gives you a step-by-step guide to completing a project – download it here for free.

The National Science + Engineering Competition is also an umbrella scheme, so you can start a project with a number of affiliated schemes. We’ve created a list of schemes and organisations that you can work with - suggested links.

I’ve got a project, now what?
